Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the only park in Uganda where mountain gorillas co-exist with Golden monkeys hence a saying that its where “Gold meets silver”. This safari is meant for those who would wish to spend a week away on safari and want to track mountain gorillas and participate in golden monkey tracking experience or golden monkey tracking, more wildlife in queen Elizabeth national park and then visit Lake Bunyonyi the deepest Lake in Uganda.

This safari starts and ends in Kigali.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1

Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After breakfast early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you to Uganda through the Chanika border.

On your way you will have the good scenic views of Rwanda the land of a thousand hills as you exit to Uganda. You will have different stop overs for photo moments to entice your safari. The views of the volcanoes will be an additive as you get ready for your safari.

Check in at the border and exit Rwanda to enter Uganda. You will drive to your hotel for lunch, refreshing and overnight which is 30 kilometers from the boarder.

DAY 2

Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, carry your packed lunch from the lodge and our driver will drive you to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters arriving in time for briefing.

Before briefing, your passport details will be required to make sure that you are eligible to trek mountain gorillas.

This will be followed by briefing from one of the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers about gorilla trekking, dos and don'ts and instructions to be followed on the trek, with the gorillas and after the trek. You will then be led to the forest to search for the mountain gorillas.

DAY 3

Golden Monkey Trekking

After breakfast, you will transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for golden monkey trekking. You will be briefed about the dos and don'ts while with golden monkeys and then proceed to the mountain/forest for your trek. You will be allowed one hour interaction with the golden monkeys.

Drive to Lake Mutanda for a boat ride and visit to Gahiza (punishment) island later in the afternoon as you relax with the views of the Virunga mountains.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast in the morning, transfer to lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district for relaxation and boat. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest lake in Africa, dotted with 29 islands and many small birds along the lake shores.

Check in at the lodge for lunch and go for a boat ride and the top lake view later in the afternoon. Transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast, catch a sunrise as you drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. With the nice scenic views of the meandering roads in the Kigezi hills you will drive via Ntungamo district as you proceed to Kagamba. You may have a stopover at Kitagata hot springs and proceed on to Bushenyi through the tea plantations.

You will be stopping for photo moments while you proceed on your journey.

Reach the park later in the afternoon and check in at the lodge for lunch. Relaxation, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 6

Game Drive and Boat Launch

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the park for your morning game drive, you expect see a lot of wildlife such as lions, leopards, hyenas, kobs, elephants, birds, buffalos among others. The game drive normally takes 4-5 hours through the Kasenyi plains as you explore more of the second largest savannah park.

After the game drive, you will transfer to the lodge for lunch and proceed to Mweya/ Kazinga channel for an afternoon boat launch. While on the boat you will have an encounter with wildlife as many animals come by the lake showers to quench their thirst. Expect to see several aquatic animals such as hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards and water birds.

After the boat rode, you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Transfer to Kigali

Breakfast early in the morning, We shall set off for Kigali and arrive in time enough to do some shopping and move around.
