DAY 1

Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park and Boat Safari

Embark on your journey from Kigali to Akagera National Park, enjoying a scenic drive through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside. Upon arrival, set off on a relaxing boat excursion on Lake Ihema, where you’ll have the chance to observe diverse wildlife along the shoreline.

In the afternoon, take in the tranquil sounds of nature as you unwind at the lodge. To top off your day, enjoy a short game drive in the park, where you can spot a variety of animals, including giraffes, zebras, antelopes, or even cats depending on your luck.

Spend the night at Akagera Game Lodge or a similar accommodation, where you’ll experience comfort and serenity Close to the African wilderness.

DAY 2

Game drive safari and transfer from Akagera National Park to Volcanoes National Park

After an early morning breakfast, we embark on an early morning game drive experience. You will have an opportunity to get up close to a variety of wildlife species in their natural habitat. The game drive allows us to witness the beauty of the park and observe animals such as Lions, Leopards, rhinos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and various antelope species.

After close to four hours of game drive in Akagera National Park, we exit the park and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, located in the northern province of Rwanda. The journey to Volcanoes National Park offers picturesque views of the Rwandan countryside along the way. offering an unforgettable safari experience as we continue our adventure.

DAY 3

Optional mountain gorilla tracking at Volcanoes National Park or Mount Bisoke hike activity

To participate in the Rwanda Gorilla Trekking experience, individuals are required to obtain a Gorilla Trekking permit at an additional cost of $1,500. Alternatively, participants can opt for the Bosoke Volcano Hike as an alternative activity.

The day typically starts with an early morning breakfast, followed by a transfer to the Kinigi Park headquarters for a trekking briefing. Participants then embark on a hike up into the rainforest to encounter a troop of magnificent mountain gorillas.

Each gorilla troop is accompanied by a 24-hour guard, ensuring their location is known. Visitors usually have approximately an hour to observe the gorillas up close in their natural habitat.

After the trekking experience, participants return to the Lodge for an overnight stay.

DAY 4

Golden nonkey tracking at Volcanoes National Park and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters at Kinigi for golden monkey tracking. These primates are beautiful, endangered, and more agile than mountain gorillas. They inhabit bamboo thickets on the lower slopes of the Virunga mountains. Tracking them is not only a once-in-a-lifetime experience as they are endangered and endemic to the Albertine Rift but also provides you with the best views of the park's surroundings and vast pyrethrum plantations.

After a successful golden monkey tracking we transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. This is one of the best transfer routes offering views of Lake Kivu, vast tea plantations, and wonderful people. arrive at the lodge late in the evening for dinner and overnight relaxation.

DAY 5

Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk, Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Start your day with an early breakfast or choose a packed meal before heading to Cyamudongo. Upon arrival, meet your expert ranger guide, who will brief you on the chimpanzee trekking experience. This exciting adventure takes you into the heart of Nyungwe Forest, where you’ll track wild chimpanzees through lush, dense forests. Observing these intelligent primates in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience, offering insight into their social behavior and lifestyle.

After the trek, continue your adventure with a canopy walk at the Uwinka Visitors Center. This elevated walkway offers stunning views of the forest canopy, allowing you to see the diverse flora and fauna of Nyungwe from a unique perspective. The walk provides an exciting opportunity to spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the rainforest.

After the canopy walk, transfer to Cyangungu, where you will spend the night at Peace Guesthouse or a similar accommodation. Here, you can relax and reflect on the day's unforgettable experiences in one of Rwanda’s most beautiful and biodiverse regions.

DAY 6

Transfer to Kahuzi Biega national park - congo

Cross the Rusiizi border into the Democratic Republic of Congo, heading to Tshivanga, the headquarters of Kahuzi-Biega National Park, for an unforgettable lowland gorilla trekking adventure.

Upon arrival, the park warden will provide an insightful briefing about lowland gorillas, including fascinating details and comparisons with other gorilla subspecies. After the introduction, you will join a team of experienced rangers and trackers who will guide you to the starting point of the hiking trail leading to the gorillas' location.

The tracking experience typically ranges from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the movements of the gorillas. Once the gorillas are located, you will have a remarkable hour to observe and interact with them in their natural habitat.

Following this once-in-a-lifetime experience, return to Bukavu for an overnight stay at Nediva Bed and Breakfast or a similar accommodation. If time allows and border crossing back to Cyangungu is feasible, you may proceed accordingly.
