The Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a protected area located in Nakasongola district, Uganda. It was established in 2005 with the primary objective of reintroducing and conserving the endangered southern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) in Uganda.

Six southern white rhinos were introduced to Ziwa back in 2006. But, since then there have been successful births, bringing our number to 38.

In addition to breeding, the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary also focuses on habitat management and protection. The sanctuary consists of diverse ecosystems, including savannah grasslands, woodlands, wetlands, and water bodies. These habitats are carefully managed to provide suitable conditions for the rhinos and other wildlife species. The sanctuary also collaborates with local communities to promote sustainable land use practices and reduce human-wildlife conflicts.
